Rossi Runs in Rally
27 November 2011 | The Monza Rally Show has run again on the historic Italian circuit, with an incredible eight WRC winners, five European Rally championship winners, an IRC Rally titleholder, 11 Italian Rally series winners, and three winners of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The undoubted star of the show was eight times World Rally champion Sëbastien Loeb, who won the classic three-day, nine-stage event in his Citroen DS3 WRC.
MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi put on an excellent display of his incredible ability - whether on two wheels or four - to beat all comers in two of the stages while sporting a tribute to his friend and fellow MotoGP racer, the late Marco Simoncelli.
The trophy for the event has been named the Marco Simoncelli Trophy, dedicated to the memory of the late MotoGP rider who was due to compete at Monza in a Fiesta RS WRC.
The final results saw Rossi finish 24 seconds behind Frenchman Loeb, with Dindo Capello, one of the title winners of several editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, coming in third.
